National Missile Defense

National missile defense (NMD) is quickly becoming the first real foreign policy/national security initiative of the Bush administration. To proponents, deploying a missile defense represents a prudent response to emerging threats. To opponents, NMD represents a risky scheme, based on technology that has not yet been developed, that is guaranteed to undermine existing arms control treaties.
